Questions and Answers: What about John 20
Majority of this world does not have a knowledge of who the true living God is. Satan has deceived the minds of many by introducing many gods like the trinity, the Pope, the sacred animals like the cows, elephants, and many more.
There are many more other gods being worshipped by many different classes in the world today. We have just shared the most common ones.
But who is the true Living God who is Supreme of all? The world must be informed and the Bible is the tool to be used to reveal who this true God is.
Let us start with the question, who is God?
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The very first book, chapter and verse already talks about God. It first introduces God as a Creator. Let us look at the meaning to right away understand if this God is singular or plural.
God - 430 'elohiym el-o-heem'
plural of 433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:--angels, X exceeding, God (gods)(-dess, -ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.
Plurality of God is supported in the next few verses:
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
As you can see here, the word being used in verse 26 is us and our. It means God Elohim is not just one Person speaking yet many or more than one. Before we identify who belongs to this God Elohim collection, first let us understand the nature and power of a God to help us identify who rightfully belong to this.
Omnipotent – All Powerful
The verses below show us that a God is powerful or omnipotent. There is nothing that a true God cannot do. Certainly, the Pope is not a god for he is not omnipotent nor these other gods that the world worships today for these fake gods are not omnipotent or all-powerful.
Job 42:2 - I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
Jeremiah 32:27 - Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
Matthew 19:26 - But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Psalms 147:5 - Great is our Lord, and of great power:
Revelation 19:6 - And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Romans 1:20 - For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Omnipresent – Present Everywhere
These verses tell us that a God is omnipresent which means He can be present everywhere at all times. Certainly, the Pope and these other gods cannot fit to this power.
Job 34:21 - For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
Psalms 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. 139:9 [If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 139:10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
Proverbs 15:3 - The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
Jeremiah 23:24 - Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
Acts 17:27 - That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
Omniscient – All Knowing
A true God is also all knowing. There is nothing that a true God does not know. He must know from beginning to end. He must know the past, present and future. There is nothing on heaven and earth that is hidden from the sight of a true God.
1 Chronicles 28:9 - And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
Job 28:24 - For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
Psalms 147:5 - Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
1 John 3:20 - For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable [are] his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Hebrews 4:13 - Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Isaiah 42:9 - Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Acts 1:24 - And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
1 Corinthians 2:11 - For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Spirit
It is very important to understand that a God is a Spirit. This Spirit is Divine or Holy. Surely it cannot be the Pope for he is in a human flesh far from being a Diving being. It cannot also be these sacred animals that pagans worship like the elephants or the cows and such for these are literal animals and not a spirit.
John 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty.
1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
Can transform
Since God is all powerful, He can also transform. Let us pick an example.
Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
This we see that God in the Spirit transformed Himself into a dove.
No beginning of days, no end of life
One important nature of a True God is that He is not created nor will He have an end of life or that He will die.
Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Intercedes/Mediates
A True God intercedes and mediates in behalf of His people. Vatican claims mary is an intercessor yet she has beginning of days and end of life. She is also not omnipresent, all knowing and omnipotent.
1 Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
HOLY
Lev 19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God [am] holy.
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
PERFECT
Psalms 18:30 [As for] God, his way [is] perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he [is] a buckler to all those that trust in him.
A true God is perfect which means without blemish, entire, undefiled, upright, whole, complete as per H8549 for the word perfect. Certainly the Pope is not a God,
Saviour
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Can forgive sins
Luke 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
The pope claims to forgive sins yet he fails to qualify the rest of the description and nature of a true God.
We can go through as many verses possible to describe what a true God is. Based on what is revealed above, there are only 3 Divine Beings that fit perfectly to the description and nature of a God. How do we know there are 3? We need 2 to 3 witnesses to prove such truth.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
#1 Father
The first person of this Godhead Family is called the Father. He is supreme in all. He sent His Son to Earth to die for us. He is called the Father by Jesus Christ.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.
2 Cor 1:2 Grace [be] to you and peace from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Jesus refers to His Father as a different Being. He is not referring to Himself as the Father yet Jesus is also a Father to us as well.
#2 Jesus
The Second Person of the Divine God Family is Jesus the Christ. In other languages, they also have another name that refers to Him. He is the Son of the Father. He is the Lamb sacrifice who died for our sins yet risen after the 3rd day and is now sat down in the right hand of the Father. Hebrews 12:2
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Creator
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
This refers to Jesus the image of the invisible God the Father. All things were created by Him and for Him.
Isaiah 45:8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else.
Ephesians 3:9 And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
We have so many proof that Jesus is a Creator along with the Father.
Intercessor
1 Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Jesus is the Mediator and Intercessor between us and His Father which is also Our Father. Mary cannot fill this post because the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the One, not Mary.
#3 Holy Ghost
The Third Person or Witness that bare record in Heaven is the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit. He fits perfectly the description of a True God.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
The Holy Ghost’s Power is the Highest that overshadowed Mary when she conceived Jesus Christ.
The Holy Ghost reveals things to us. Luke 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name [was] Simeon; and the same man [was] just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
another - G243 - allos - else that is different, more one
The Holy Ghost is also called another Comforter which is a different person and not Jesus Himself.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost:
Hebrews 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
The Holy Ghost was manifest in the flesh (made like unto the Son of God) the same as Jesus was also manifest in the flesh. He was a priest and a King. Notice the word King is in capital letter.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Notice what Jesus said here in this particular verse (7-8). He said I will send Him unto you. He is not talking about Himself in verses 7-8 or He should say I will come unto you. He uses the word “he” to refer to another Person. This is the reason why the Holy Ghost is ANOTHER COMFORTER (John 14:16). Jesus is already a Comforter. The Holy Ghost is another Comforter apart from Him. Yet let us also consider that Jesus has not left His disciple just because He, the "Another Comforter" is going to come to them. He also assured them that He is not leaving them comfortless for He will also come unto them (John 14:18). So, now you have two Persons mentioned. Verse 18 which is Jesus the Comforter plus verse 16 the "Another Comforter". Also, dont forget, the Heavenly Father is also a Comforter unto us for Jesus said if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father (John 14:7, 9). So, if you have known Jesus the Comforter, you also have known the Father which is a Comforter as well. How great this plan is, not just one or two but three who will come unto your life. The complete Godhead Family shall come unto you. This is one reason why God's chosen people are equipped with such High Heavenly Powers that empower them to continue to strive to be complete and be overcomers and make it till the end. Amen.
Continuing,
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show [it] unto you. 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show [it] unto you.
It says that the Spirit (God) of truth shall speak what He shall hear. He is the witness for Jesus and shall say or speak things He heard about Jesus. In this verse also, you can see the 3 Persons. In short, the Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus. Also, you see Jesus speaking, the Spirit of truth that He said was to come and the Father who also owns all things.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 14:17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
This verse is saying that Jesus is speaking about the Holy Ghost as “him” whom the world cannot see. He uses “him” and not “it” which refers to something that has no life. Him means the Spirit of truth who was to come is a Person and not a force or a wind like others believe.
Next verse says, if Holy Spirit is in you, Jesus will also be in you.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Is the Holy Spirit a God? This is one of the most controversial questions regarding the Godhead family.
Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land? 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
In this story, we can see that Ananias and Sapphira had lied not only to men but to God which was the Holy Ghost and yes, they died instantly because sin against the Holy Ghost is an unpardonable sin.
Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
The self existence of Father and Son
For those who believe that Jesus is the Father Himself, let us see how this is an error and a false preaching by revealing the truth about the self existence of the two.
2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
Jesus is the Son, the Father is not the Son.
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
The self existence of Jesus and Holy Spirit
There is also a belief that Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are one or are the same. In short, they are saying that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. But let us see the truth about the self-existence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
Here we see that Jesus Christ is separate from the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ can also sanctify anything as well as the Holy Ghost can do the same. Below is the verse that Jesus can also sanctify.
Leviticus 21:8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, [am] holy.
Next, another proof of the self-existence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit is the verse below.
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the [world] to come.
If the Holy Spirit mentioned here is the Spirit of Jesus which is also Holy of course, then why is it that when you sin against Jesus, you can still be forgiven yet if you sin against the Holy Ghost you cannot be forgiven? This just tells us that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are 2 separate Beings.
Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
This verse tells us of the 3 Persons of the Godhead Family. God (Holy Spirit), the Father and Jesus Christ.
Below is the proof that apart from Jesus, there are yet another 2 more God in heaven.
Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Notice how Jesus mentioned Eli (or God) twice? He is referring to the Father and the Holy Ghost who descended like a dove during His baptism.
2Co:13:14: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
So, in a chart, you can see how the three are separate beings but one in agreement, purpose and mission.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
You can picture the Godhead in like a collection of 3 friends or any collection of people composed of 3 members like the 3 friends below who you can see are 3 separate beings. Can you now see why it is possible for man to make it to heaven? Look how many Highest Powers are there that are always ready to help us when we are with willing hearts and minds surrender our lives to THEM. Not just one, or two but THREE.
