1. daily atonement (for forgiveness of sins)- individual sins of an Israelite or congregational sin committed as a whole nation
2. yearly atonement (for blotting out sins)

A - requires confession -

Numbers 5:6-7, “Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty. Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.”

Romans 3:20, "for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

Leviticus 4:23, "Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:"

B - The process (Leviticus 4:22-26; Leviticus 4:5-10)
- The sinner will bring the animal to the door of the tabernacle into the outer court
- He will then lay his hand on its head, confess his sins
- He will kill the victim with his owns hands
- The priest will take the blood with his fingers and put the blood in the altar of burnt offerings.
- The high priest will take some blood and bring it into the holy place and with his finger sprinkle the blood before the veil of the sanctuary
- He will put some blood into the altar of incense

Hebrews 9:12, "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]."

Type: Blood of animal sacrifice for the atonement of sins
Antitype: Christ's own blood on the cross for our atonement

The Leper healed (healed and cleansed) - Mark 1:41-44, "And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth [his] hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.  And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.  And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;  And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them."
